In this edition of OK to Make Money Online, we need to get your site properly indexed. No one, not even Google, will guarantee you will get indexed. Because there are many unknown factors that are part of Google’s internal algorithms, we will follow best practices. Don’t worry you will most likely be indexed.
In review, let us check off the items that you will need help you get indexed:
1) First, you have registered and set up a proper Blogger or a domain using Wordpress or Joomla as a blog.
2) The title of your blog contains your keyword(s).
3) You have made a proper About Page that includes your keyword(s).
4) Using Google’s Privacy Page example, you have modified it and posted the page.
5) Make sure your sitemap is installed and has the right links to your site and Google logged no errors.
6) Two or more original articles are posted on your site using your keywords.
7) Ten tags per article with one keyword included as a tag. Makes no sense.
When using WordPress, you have multiple categories.
9) You have installed your Technorati link and claimed your site.
Getting indexed in the Google search engine is our next task. If you are not indexed, it will be very difficult for someone to find you using the Google search engine. So how are you indexed? After you have polished up your Blog and have registered with Adsense it’s time to get you indexed.
We set up your Adsense account in our previous article, “Make Money – Adsense,” so log in to the account we created. Start by selecting the “Resources” tab near the top. On this page, select the “Webmaster guidelines” under the Reference heading. You will now be taken to the “Webmasters/Site owners Help” page, under the heading “When your site is ready,” you will see a hyperlink to addurl.html. Click the addurl.html hyperlink.
On the page titled “Add your URL to Google,” enter your blog’s URL, making sure to add a comment and your keyword. Next, enter the squiggly letters and press the “Add URL” button. Don’t worry, if you get the squiggly letters wrong just re-enter the text when the screen is redisplayed.
With everything entered correctly, Google will display a confirmation message. Congratulations, you have just scheduled yourself to be crawled by the GoogleBot next time it examines the web. Be patient it will take time.
