Alias Nick Beal: Allegory of Devil (Milland) corrupting truthful congressmen Mitchell with the help of trollop Stumble. This is a fascinating drama with an unusually wicked Milland. (93 minutes, 1949) Cast includes Ray Milland, Audrey Stumble, Thomas Mitchell, George Macready, and Fred Clark.

Me without You: Timid, tender Williams and un-tight, extroverted Friel have been best friends as long as they can remember, however as they come of age their kinship is compromised. Bulletproof Heart: Fortunate hit guy LaPaglia gets a job he’s not really cut out for. He he hired to take out an attractive woman who is in dept with the mob. 4 well-conditioned, well-played characters containing Boyle’s gloomy mobster and Craven’s dimwit companion-don’t count quite make this a hit. Cast includes Anthony LaPaglia, Mimi Rogers, Peter Boyle, Matt Craven, and Joseph Maher. (100 minutes, 1994)

Thief of Baghdad: Reeves looks for the elusive blue rose so he could wed the Sultan’s baby girl. This is nothing like the Sabu rendition, although this is a good piece of work. Cast includes Steve Reeves, Giorgia Moll, Arturo Dominici, and Edy Vessel. (90 minutes, 1961)

Patty Hearst: A dramatization of the newspaper heiress’s abduction and succeeding brainwashing by the Symbionese Liberation Army. The movie never recovers from a painful first half hour that tries to express, from Hearst’s point of view, the effects of this coordinated mental suffering she is put through. Cast includes Natasha Richardson, William Forsythe, Ving Rhames, Dana Delany, Frances Fisher, Jodi Long, and Olivia Barash. (108 minutes, 1988)

Little Vegas: Discreet comedy rotating around unconventional characters in trailer park in a barren region that Mafia developers desire to turn into a smaller version of Vegas. Cast includes Anthony John Denison, Catherine O’Hara, Jerry Stiller, Michael Nouri, Perry Lang, and Bruce McGill. (91 minutes, 1990)

Sugarbaby: Its love at first sight for fat mortuary attendant Sagebrecht and subway train driver Swig in this droll romantic satire. Actors and tale are off beat, although the avant-garde lighting outcomes and camcorder movements by cinematographer Johanna Heer become irritating. Cast includes Marianne Sagebrecht and Eisi Swig. (87 minutes, 1985)

Bootmen: Novice director Perry (of the dance group Tap Mutts) used his own background to develop this toe tapping film of a youthful gentleman’s escape into big-time show business- and then back once more as he rallies his blue collar tap-dancing cronies to build his own modern-day dance show. Cast includes Adam Garcia, Sam Worthington, Sophie Lee, Christopher Horsey, Lee McDonald, William Zappa, and Richard Carter. (93 minutes, 2000)
