Choosing Golf Shoes

Your swing could well change, your accuracy and distance will definitely improve with practice, and you’ll become deadly accurate with at putting, but you will always do all these things while you are standing on your feet in your shoes.

So, your feet need to be quite comfortable, don’t they! Have you ever got a blister whilst walking or running? It’s all you can think about and it ruins your enjoyment of the experience of what you are doing. Don’t let uncomfortable golf shoes ruin your game of golf too.

This is one area where you shouldn’t let your desire to save money make the decision for you. You will be wearing these shoes many times over a long time and they should be considered a good investment in your game of golf.

Comfort, not cost, should be your biggest concern when you are buying shoes. Your foot should not move at all at the heel when you walk, yet your toes shouldn’t feel constrained. Have your shoes fitted professionally and walk around in them before you actually buy them.

Proper golf shoes should be waterproof so that your feet remain dry under damp conditions. Good socks are important too; they will wick perspiration away from you feet, keeping your feet dry and comfortable.

All golf courses forbid the use of metal spikes on golf shoes in an effort to protect their delicate greens. Purchase shoes that allow you to change the rubber spikes easily, and while you’re doing that, buy a few extra spikes as you never know when you may lose one. You should also replace the spikes when they become worn.

You have many things to think about whilst playing your round of golf, but your feet shouldn’t be one of them. When it comes to golf shoes, quality counts, honestly.

If you are thinking about buying new golf shoes, or if you are just into golf, please go along to our website entitled Golfing Tips for Beginners

Office Decorating

It’s been at least a year now since you moved to your new work place and took over your new office. First of all, you were busy decorating a new home and learning a new job, but now that you’re settled in you start noticing again the same things that you noticed when you first took over your office.

The walls are a boring, neutral colour and are looking decidedly depressing. The sun streaming in through the industrial quality blinds is barely enough to light a mouse hole and the furniture is just about as grotty and plain as it can get. You figure that an acceptable amount of time has passed for you to start redecorating your office.

Naturally, before you start it’s always good to make certain that the powers that be don’t have a problem with your plans. And remember that it is just an office and you should treat your decorating plans as such.

Painting the walls a bright red colour possibly might not work. However, you could brighten things up a bit by repainting the walls a bright and airy colour that won’t be an eyesore to anyone, least of all you. Then you could always take down those ancient blinds that have been hanging there since the early’80′s and replace them with something more pleasing and modern.

On the other hand, if the whole of the office is decorated in the same style with the same blinds hanging on each window, your stylish changes might not be appreciated by your colleagues. So, think twice before making drastic changes that alter the whole style and dynamic of the entire office.

However, there are easier methods you can employ to carry out your office decorating ideas without too much trouble to you and which doesn’t necessarily need too much thought either. You can brighten up the appearance of any room by placing a couple of flowering plants here and there around your office.

But, if you’re at all like me and you don’t have green fingers or if your presence is death to any plants near you, then maybe you shouldn’t bother with plants. You could however bring in some bright prints and hang them up on your walls. Or perhaps you have children and they have painted some smashing pictures for you.

These also work well, and will show your colleagues a different side of you. Don’t get stressed out over anything though. You really don’t need a simple redecorating job to add to the rest of your worries and besides an office decorating project should be fun and stress free.

Remember, your office decorating project should not mean your turning the whole office, or yourself, on its head. It should be something that you can live with on a daily basis.

After all, you’re at your office most of the day, so it should be a place where you can feel just as relaxed as you are in your own home.

Astronomy: Some Facts

How many facts are there to be known or learned about all the objects and phenomenon in our entire universe? Just think: there are about 1 x 10 ^22 stars in the universe, that’s 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars; then there are many of those stars that have planets in orbit around them. Then consider the moons that orbit those planets and the comets and asteroids, the galaxies these stars form, the nebulae and black holes and everything else that’s out there. The amount of information and data is really quite mind-boggling. This article definitely will not contain every fact about astronomy, but they are very interesting facts nevertheless.

Shall we start by taking a look at a small aspect of astronomy: which are the brightest stars seen from the Earth? – except the Sun, that is, which is just about 250,000 times nearer than the next closest star. In fact, it is so bright that when the sky is viewed from the Earth, it’s light blinds out all the other stars in the sky during a phenomenon called daytime.

So, while reading this list, please bear in mind that according to the scale we are using, lower numbers are brighter: the Sun would be roughly -26.73, whereas the full moon is about -12.6; keeping that in mind, here are the top 5:

#5 is Vega, which is in Lyra, and which means ‘falling eagle’ in Arabic. It’s about 25 light years away from the Earth, with a magnitude of 0.04.

When you are thinking about these astronomical facts, please bear in mind that the ‘brightest from the Earth’ doesn’t mean ‘largest’ or ‘brightest’. The Sun is not the largest or brightest star in the universe or even the galaxy, yet it seems so bright to us because it is near compared to the other stars.

#4 is Rigel – a very bright, bluish-white supergiant star in the constellation Orion. It is a binary star, with an average apparent magnitude of 0.12. It’s scientific name is Beta Orionis. Rigel is Arabic for ‘foot’. It’s about four light years from Earth.

#3 is Arcturus. The name is Latin/Greek and means ‘guardian of the bear’. This star is roughly 37 light years away. It is in the constellation of Bootes, behind The Great Bear. It has a magnitude of 0.00

#2 Canopus. Of the top five, Canopus, the Greek name for the pilot of the ship Argo in the stories about Jason and the Argonauts, is the brightest, but because it is 313 light years from Earth, it’s only second on this list of the five brightest stars seen from Earth. It has a magnitude of -.62.

#1 is Sirius, which translate from the Greek as ‘scorching’. It’s also sometimes called the ‘Dog Star’ because it is the brightest star in the constellation of Canis Major, which means ‘The Big Dog’ in Latin. It is situated only 9 light years from Earth, which makes it easily the second closest of these top five. It has a magnitude of -1.44, which makes it very easily the brightest star that can be observed in the night sky.

These facts don’t even scratch the surface on the subject of astronomy but it’s something to think about anyway the next time you look up into the sky at night.

Buying A Diamond

Everybody loves diamonds and nobody looks bad in diamonds, do they? It is not really within the scope of this piece to recommend whether diamonds are a first-class investment or not, but their supposed worth is colossal. Instead, I want to look at where the optimum place to buy a diamond is, since it is more importantant that you procure your diamond from a respectable dealer with a guarantee than that you believe you got a good trade on eBay by means of buying somebody’s grandmother’s engagement ring, which might not be genuine.

Consequently, before you commence browsing for diamonds, consider dealing with a bonded jeweller. Bonded jewellers sell bonded diamonds and there are not many bonded jewellers in the world. In fact, of the jewellers in the world, only about 5% of them are bonded.

Purchasing a bonded diamond will cost more than purchasing a non-bonded diamond, however when you look at what you get with the bonded option, you will observe that it is well worth the additional expense.

To start with, bonded diamonds have a buy-back guarantee for the existence of the diamond. No matter how long you have had the diamond, you can take it back to the bonded jeweller and sell it back to him or her, for a 100% refund.

If a jeweller does not offer a 100% buy-back promise, for the life of the diamond, then you ought to take a nearer look at the diamond to see what is amiss with it. Just joking, thay will always offer you a 100% buy-back guarantee or tell you why not.

Bonded diamonds also have a breakage policy. If the stone breaks or chips, the bonded jeweller will replace it with a new one – one time. No jeweller would ever offer such a policy on any stone that was not 100% natural, so just the offer of such a policy should give you peace of mind concerning the quality of the diamond. Bonded diamonds are natural and untreated.

Bonded diamonds improve in value, with a fixed appreciation rate that is intended to keep up with inflation. This means that a diamond that is valued at a particular amount of money today will be worth more in the future, as the price of diamonds continues to rise. This normally does not relate to buy-backs, although. It typically applies to trade-ins.

On the other hand, by purchasing a bonded diamond, you are sheltered against the prospect of a market crash. If a market crash occurs, the value of diamonds will drop. However, the bonded jeweller promises to refund you the discrepancy between what the diamond is now worth and what you paid for it before the market crash.

It may be difficult to find a bonded jeweller in your vicinity, but if you can, this is who you want to do business with, as opposed to dealing with a non-bonded jeweller. Specifically tell the jeweller that you are only interested in bonded diamonds. You can find a bonded jeweller in your area by exploiting various online resources like Google or Yahoo, or by dialing the local jewellery stores.

To decrease the growing problem of electrical and electronic waste, the WEEE directive was established and passed into law in Europe on 13 February 2003. WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. With this new directive it would be the responsibility of any equipment producer to recycle or treat their equipment, or simply take it back.

With the introduction of environmentally friendly and energy efficient photocopiers an increase in energy saving and waste reduction has taken place in the workplace. Photocopiers play a big role in helping with the problem of global warming and are a significant part of the WEEE directive. Unlike before, these old photocopiers can no longer be laid to waste in the local landfill.

Photocopiers are the most commonly found piece of office equipment, and play a major role in increasing energy efficiency in the workplace. The consequent greenhouse gas emissions are only part of the concern, as a photocopier also must deal with the issue of paper usage along with energy consumption. Since the copier was using energy even when not in use, this was an issue that also needed to be addressed.

By the use of powering down the photocopier with an “energy saving” mode in the new energy efficient models, the energy needed to support the machine can be reduced my more than 60 percent. A thin fixing film instead of a quick heating roller and a ceramic heating element rather than a halogen heater are part of the new environmentally friendly photocopier’s “on demand” fusing system. This will make it more energy efficient as well as provide lower heat requirements. While an older photocopier could take over a minute to have enough energy to be able to function, these new models go from sleep mode to fully operational in under ten seconds.

When put together with the growing availability of double sided copying and printing, the new photocopier technology will be one of the leaders in energy efficiency going forward. The world of office equipment will never be the same, and for once this is something positive.

An increasingly large amount of scientific research, published since the IPCC 4th Assessment Report was released in 2007, shows that climate change is occurring right now, and that it is much faster than predicted only two years ago.

The evidence for this statement is from a multitude of areas. Some of the regions currently undergoing change are shown below.

-Multiple ecosystems, in multiple locations, now show the effects of global warming. Examples include the timing of plant flowering, animal breeding, and lake thawing.

-Increased ocean surface temperatures in Pacific & Atlantic hurricane-formation zones which will lead to stronger cyclones are definitely related to human-induced warming.

-Ocean acidification is occurring quickly, due to CO2 in massive amounts dissolving in salty water. This will have major impacts on marine ecosystems and subsequently food supplies for many countries.

-Calculated sea level rise this century will be greater than that calculated just 2 years earlier. It is expected to rise at least a meter, according to new scientific evidence.

-The accelerated melting of the ice sheet in Greenland that started in 2004 has been definitely linked to climate change.

-The West Antarctic Ice Shelf has undergone rapid melting over the last 10 years and has suffered 10 major ice shelf collapses over that time.

-Northern polar sea-ice is melting much quicker than previously estimated, and it is likely that the Arctic will be free of ice in summer within a few decades.

-Thawing of the boreal permafrost is proceeding much faster than previously calculated, and is expelling a lot more greenhouse gases than expected.

The climate change that we are now witnessing is expected to continue for millennia, even after all anthropogenic carbon dioxide production stops. This is because of the major lags present in the climate system, and the slow removal of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Have you got an aptitude for interior design? Are you always redecorating your room, or telling your friends and family where to put that piece of pottery they bought yesterday? Then, the best place you could be to develop your skills is one of the many interior design colleges or design schools that are about these days.

With help and prodding from your friends and family, you could find yourself well on your way to starting up your own interior designing business. Then you’d be where everyone wants to be, ie doing a job that they really enjoy doing. So, just what are interior design colleges and what can you expect them to offer you?

Well, to start with, the number of interior design colleges that you will come across in your search will be large and, at times, even overwhelming. If you do a search on the Internet or just call up the colleges and ask for a course catalogue you can then make an informed decision about which of the interior design colleges you choose to go to.

If your life is too busy these days, but you still want to try a course or two, you have the choice of going for any of the Internet interior design colleges that are so numerous these days. Or maybe you could even try a night course or correspondence course in your pursuit of knowledge about interior design.

All of the interior design colleges teach basically the same things and will help you enhance your own natural abilities. You’ll learn everything from scratch and will be given an understanding into why certain colours go well next to each other and why other clash.

You’ll learn when to use the rules that you’ve been given and when to break them. But above all, you’ll be taught how to use your natural design abilities with the knowledge that you’ve gathered at the college and blend it into a mixture that is vastly stunning to the eye.

Moreover, if interior design colleges are your thing then you can be assured of coming away with a lot more than only knowledge on how to place what colour next to what colour to get a stunning effect. By taking at least one or two courses, or even by doing the whole range of courses offered to you, you’ll be expanding your natural interior designing abilities at least a hundred fold.

There’s nothing like having a confidence boost to shore up your own natural skills and to be able to tell someone with total confidence that you are a bona fide interior designer.

Country Home Decor

Your house is finally clean and tidy and you sit down and put your feet up for a minute with a nice cup of coffee by the side of you and you pick away at your muffin. You feel worn out but it’s that good kind of weariness when you know you’ve done a hard day’s work and you have no regrets about it. A feeling of contentment settles about you and you look around you with satisfaction.

A magazine lies in front of you tantalizingly within reach and you give in and pull it to you, intent on enjoying a well-earned rest. The main cover story springs out at you, entitled ‘Country Home Decor’. Naturally you flip through eagerly to that very section, you had only just seen an article on some stylish country home decor or turning your house into a small country haven in another magazine and it had interested you.

There is page after page of the magazine filled with what can only be described as the most perfect examples of country home decor you can imagine. You gaze longingly at the various styles and furnishings you see gracing the magazine’s pages. A quick look up from your magazine assures you that your own modest home hasn’t changed somehow into one of those lovely country homes you were just looking at.

A sad sigh passes your lips at the disappointment and so you go back to reading your magazine article. You had never thought that you were the sort of person who could live with the country home decor style but now upon consideration you think you just might be able to.

Without your even realising it you find yourself marking the pages that interest you the most, making small mental calculations on how best to achieve the same effect but on the smaller budget that you have at your disposal. After all, it wouldn’t do to spring for that lovely dresser and have to go without your freshly ground whole bean coffee now, would it?

However, you could certainly go for that appealing table runner without any problem. And if you gave all those modern chrome coffee mugs and dinner sets to charity you wouldn’t really be splashing out, would you, since you would’ve done your best for charity and donated all these things unselfishly?

What about exchanging your jazzy blinds for something that’s a bit more in the country home decor style, and while you’re at it perhaps you could even exchange that ugly lampshade you got as a Christmas gift for something a little more country.

The only thing that is left for you to do now is to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labours and gaze with open pride upon your beautifully redecorated home. Furnished, naturally enough, in the best country home decor style that you could obtain from every source that you came across, like that first magazine which spurred it all off way back then.

Hybrid cars are on everyone’s minds. Twenty, forty, or fifty dollars for a full tank of petrol? Who in their right mind wants to pay that sort of money? However, frustrated, the petrol customer sighs, but pays up. However, hybrid vehicles are applauded for the small amount of gas they need to operate, and they are flying off the lots of car dealerships each and everyday in increasing numbers.

But what about a plug-in hybrid? Most consumers have heard that these cars are great as well. So, someone might be asking him or herself, what exactly a plug-in hybrid is? How do they work, and what the difference between a plug-in hybrid and a regular hybrid is?

Plug-in hybrid cars are able to run just on batteries, but they can also use petrol also. These types of hybrid cars share some of the features of hybrid vehicles. They are also very similar to all-electric vehicles.

Plug-in hybrid vehicles need to be charged externally by plugging them into an electrical power source. The combustion engine of plug-in hybrid vehicles is engaged only as a back up. These cars can run only on batteries if so desired, but it is to be expected that these kinds of hybrid cars be plugged in every day.

Hybrid cars travel just as many miles as a conventional car. Designed to go the extra mile where fuel-mileage is concerned, hybrids can be driven on the highway, in cities, or wherever else a person needs to drive.

On the other hand, plug-in hybrids are designed to be driven commuter-type distances, meaning about twenty to sixty miles between destinations. This way, the plug-in hybrid does not have to use its back up combustion engine, but plug-in hybrids can go further using fuel too.

Hybrids help to minimize pollution, but they still pollute the air. Compared with plug-in hybrids, hybrid cars still have a long way to go where pollution is concerned. Since plug-in hybrid cars can run solely on their battery power, they don’t have to emit waste fuel emissions. That means that plug-in hybrids don’t need to pollute the atmosphere.

Plug-in hybrids actually do reduce total greenhouse gas emissions and plug-in hybrids use virtually no oil at all, imported or not. Studies have shown that electric hybrids emit at least 67% less greenhouse gases than petrol cars. Since the electric used to power plug-in hybrids is completely renewable, the difference in greenhouse gas emissions may be even greater than the study showed.

So there you have it – those are the main differences between plug-in hybrids and regular hybrid cars. It could make a big difference, but you would be surprised at how little it actually matters at the moment, but tht’s only because plug-in hybrids are not being sold to consumers yet! But this article should make you enthusiastic about the wonderful plug-in hybrid car, coming soon to a dealership near you.

And it’s going to be a spectacular debut too, since people already like the regular hybrid car models, but they haven’t seen anything yet until they see the new plug-in hybrid cars. However, for now, maybe we should just be satisfied with what we already have, because who knows? Before plug-in hybrid cars are brought out onto the forecourts, something even better might be introduced onto the market.
