It has recently been found out that people with mobile technology such as Blackberries end up working an extra 15 hours a week as it is impossible to stop checking emails even they’re out of workplace.

A survey of some 600 employees coming from different places has proved that blackberry is actually turning them into a hopeless workaholic as they are linked to the world even while they’re at home. The research done by the Employment law firm Peninsula has said that invariably a working week is being extended to around 55 hours for many people these days.

According to the Managing director, Peninsula, Peter Bone, “It is important for staff to spend quality time away from the office, spending time with the family, or undertaking recreational activities rather than tapping away responding to client emails or deadlines so that they keep a healthy work/life balance. Bosses should encourage staff not to work from home unless necessary. Inform staff that they should limit working from home.

If they are happy to work away then ensure they agree to opt out of the maximum working week and have this signed. Limit the extent to which employees are using their devices when they choose to do so; unrested employees will be less productive during the working day.”

He further said that ‘The recession has forced everybody to become more productive and for those with access to work at home, this is an possibility for them to catch up or get ahead. With email on tap, employees with smartphones are capable to respond a lot quicker and also get themselves prepared for the working daytime ahead by checking their email first thing.

Employees should be encouraged to take suitable rest breaks whether they do select to carry on working out of hours. Having a well rested worker with a fine work/life balance is a lot more practical than a exhausted worker that place one overly numerous hours in the night before.’ A clever phone may make communication much easier, but it does not come without its after effects.

Aleksandro Imles have great web site where he publishes recent mobile phones and news about them, what do you think about these new mobile phones?

The mobile phone market is a veritable minefield, with customers bombarded with features, tariffs and extras. How do you cut through it all to find the right phone for you?

What Do I Want From a Mobile Phone? The modern telephone is a camera, a drawing messenger, fashion accessory, status symbol, music and video player, Internet surfer and games platform. One the main reasons why choosing a telephone is such a nightmare is because it is not a device for only communicating anymore. The clue to deciding which telephone is for you is to request yourself what you want from it.

Do you want look super sophisticated – or like you have more money than sense – with a super flash miniature entertainment centre with all the latest features or do you just want a basic model that does the job of telephoning and texting without any fuss?

There are three broad types of user, and phones are accessible that cater to each:

Basic – those users who only want a phone to make and receive calls and whose feature needs just extend to basics like text messaging, voicemail and an alarm clock.

Cutting Edge – users who want to take advantage of the latest technological features, such as camera, colour screen, Internet access, and who want their phone to look stylish.

Business – users who need their phone to act like a miniature laptop or electronic filofax, such as by including computer connections and Internet access.

Choosing a Network Whether it’s Vodafone, O2, Orange or T-Mobile, a network is a key component in your experience as a mobile phone user – it is responsible for quality of signal coverage and customer service you receive for example – and so choosing the best and most appropriate is crucial. When choosing a network it is worth considering their coverage in your area and what networks your contacts are on, because same network users are entitled to cheaper calls.

It is worth considering several factors: Battery life – the battery power should be able to keep the phone running for between 40 and 100 hours between charges. Call screening – this facility enables users to know who’s calling before they decide to answer. Camera – the ability to take photographs is a hugely popular feature of modern phones. Colour screen – a colour screen is unnecessary unless you plan to view pictures or video or just want a bit more clarity in your display. Hands-free – useful equipment if you need to use your mobile while driving or another activity that requires two hands. Internet access – are you planning on using your mobile to access the Internet?

It is true that in today’s economy, everyone is in the business of cutting costs and the same remains true for the business owner. The process of asset tracking has turned from the old “hands on” approach to newer technology but let us not forget that we must focus on the training in the use of this equipment.

Asset tracking means bringing on additional staff which has taken a chunk out of your budget but there seems to be no other resource to get the job done on schedule. Recently, you read in a business publication that there are newer ways to get this job done. Has technology offered a better way to assist you in these areas? Maybe that article is good for a “re-read”.

With an updated approach to the task of inventory, you can equip your staff with hand-held devices and reduce the number of people who would usually be required to accomplish this job in record time. This asset tracking would then be transferred to your database to maintain updated stock numbers and could even reduce the possibility of human error and overstock issues.

This keeps the business owner apprised of the latest data on the inventory. One could only imagine the tremendous relief this can offer the business owner who is constantly looking for new avenues to maintain a well-run organization at the lowest costs possible.

This improved technology offers a world of helps in keeping data available at a moment’s notice. The asset tracking devices will keep you informed of any changes, additions, or deletions as they occur.

This information is stored as files on the mobile handheld devices until such time as they are downloaded into your personal computer or computer system. Your database will always be current. The checks and balances will be readily available for your review. This would have to be a tremendous cost-cutting strategy for any industry, from home based to plant location. How can this method not be a money saver!

It is time for the semi-annual inventory and your team awaits the signal from you to proceed. There have been days of preparation with little tags on each bin and shelf with little or no re-stocking for the past week.

Asset tracking means bringing on additional staff which has taken a chunk out of your budget but there seems to be no other resource to get the job done on schedule. Recently, you read in a business publication that there are newer ways to get this job done. Has technology offered a better way to assist you in these areas?
